Afterwards you visit Queen Elizabeth national park for wildlife safari, spotting animals like elephants, hippos lions, antelopes among the many. The trip then concludes with a transfer back to Kampala giving you a mix of nature adventure and relaxation in a short time.

A Detailed 4-Day Rwenzori Marathon And Queen Elizabeth

Day 1: Transfer to Kasese

You leave early morning from Kampala for a scenic drive to Kasese in western Uganda. The journey takes you through Uganda’s countryside of villages , cities and towns. For about 8-10hours you will be on the road with a lunch enroute along the way and upon arrival you will check in at your accommodation for dinner and overnight. You will also receive a short briefing ahead of your trek in the mountains.

Day 2: Forest trek in Rwenzori mountain

You start the trek at trekkers hostel where you walk gently to the park gate and register. The walk goes through thick montane forest up to the ranger’s post. Continue steadily, crossing streams and reaching a higher ridge. Along the trail, you may see birds, monkeys and signs of bush pigs. Near the Nyamwamba river you will enjoy the views of the valley and forest. The trek is incredible with a lotto see and very rich in nature. After you will descend back and transfer to your accommodation.

Day 3: Rwenzori marathon and transfer to Queen Elizabeth

In the morning you will assemble at the starting point ahead of your Rwenzori marathon. After receiving your kit and meeting other runners you will run through this marathon running for the cause of conservation of Rwenzori whose glacier is melting due to climate change. You will enjoy the scenic views of Kasese as you run through the town. After participating you will transfer to Queen Elizabeth National part where you will enjoy an evening boat cruise and spot several animals including hippos, and several bird species. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 4; Game drive and transfer to Kampala

You wake up early for a sunrise game drive in Queen Elizabeth national park. Expect to see so many animals including buffalos, elephants, lions’ leopards and antelopes. After the game drive you will embark on your return journey back to Kampala, the drive offers views of Uganda’s small towns, villages and varying landscapes. You will arrive in the evening marking the end of your trip with memories of western Uganda.
