Day One
Commence at Trekkers at an elevation of 1,450 meters and ascend to Sine Hut at 2,596 meters, resulting in a height gain of 1,146 meters. Alternatively, individuals in good physical condition may opt to continue to Kalalama Camp at 3,134 meters, enjoying spectacular vistas of the surrounding cliffs and expansive views over the lowlands and Lake Edward in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
We commence by traversing the valley floor amidst the towering trees of the Afro Montane Forest Zone. The initial six km consist of a gradual ascent, followed by a sharp incline to Sine Camp after crossing a river. The forest is populated with tall trees, numerous birds, and the possibility of observing blue monkeys darting through the underbrush. Enock’s Falls, located barely 200 meters from Sine Hut, present an excellent opportunity to record a stunning screensaver, featuring vibrant green lichen adorning the numerous life forms suspended from the trees, with the cascade serving as a picturesque backdrop.
At Sine Camp, situated at an elevation of 2,596 meters, wooden cottages are positioned amidst towering forest trees along a narrow ridge, allowing you to appreciate the forest’s grandeur while observing an extensive series of rapids and a waterfall cascading over the rocks. Certain clients like to sit outdoors, relishing the warmth of the campfire while conversing with the guides about the mountains and their communal life. Sine is situated right beneath the bamboo zone, and the surrounding area hosts a diverse array of avian species. Enock Falls, located 150 meters from the camp, is surrounded by vibrant green foliage and cascading vines. Genuinely exquisite.
One may rest at Sine Camp, or those in good physical condition may advance to Kalalama Camp at 3,134 meters, in addition to enjoying the spectacular vistas.
Day Two
Following a substantial breakfast, the day’s activities are contingent upon the camp in which you resided. Those who resided in Kalalama Camp will hear the sounds of the Rwenzori Turaco, which thrives in the numerous Giant Heathers of the area. You may opt to seek the Turaco for photography or ascend slightly further to observe the mosses on the ground, logs, and trees before descending to just above Sine Camp, where you will take the left slope trail down to Enock Falls, which is exceptionally beautiful, and walk through an extraordinarily picturesque forest.
The forest trail is a gradual decline through unspoiled woodland, teeming with many avian species. Numerous patches of bamboo exist, while other regions include trees entwined with hundreds of vines adorned with vibrant green lichen. This segment of forest is magnificent, and just prior to reaching Sine Camp, one traverses a stream situated just beneath an exquisite waterfall. At Sine Camp, one observes a breathtaking array of rapids tumbling down the valley from the verandah.
If you opted to stay in Sine Camp, you can either proceed directly along the forest path or ascend to Kalalama Camp to enjoy the vistas before descending back to the park entrance and the hostel.
